Brittany Ferries · Plymouth Millbay PL1 3EW ↔ Port du Bloscon, Roscoff 29680 · 99 nautical miles
The Plymouth to Roscoff ferry route is operated exclusively by Brittany Ferries — a company founded in 1972 whose very first sailing was from Roscoff to Plymouth. Their headquarters remain in Roscoff today. Plymouth is the natural departure point for the South West of England: travellers from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset avoid a long drive east and arrive deep into Brittany far faster than any Channel Tunnel or eastern port route.
From ~£38 one-way. Plymouth railway station is under a mile from the Millbay terminal — direct trains from London Paddington (~3 hrs), Exeter and Bristol.
From ~£44 per cabin. En-suite 2 or 4-berth inside and outside cabins available. Reserved seats from ~£10 as a lower-cost alternative on overnight sailings.
Dogs, cats and ferrets welcome. You will need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued no more than 10 days before travel, a microchipped pet and a valid rabies vaccination. Check in 90 mins early.
Self-service restaurant, bar, café, duty-free shop, 2 cinemas, children’s play area, Wi-Fi. Pont-Aven adds à la carte restaurant (Le Flora), piano bar and pool (seasonal).
Daytime sailings take approximately 6 to 6 hours 30 minutes. Overnight sailings take 8 to 10 hours depending on tidal conditions. One important point: Roscoff is 1 hour ahead of Plymouth. All arrival times on your booking confirmation are French local time — so a departure at 22:00 from Plymouth arriving at 08:00 is a 9-hour crossing, not 10. See the 2026 timetable →
Do I need a cabin on the overnight ferry?
Yes — on all overnight sailings you must book either a cabin or a reserved seat before boarding. You cannot travel overnight without one, and the car deck is sealed for the entire crossing so you cannot return to your vehicle. Cabins start from around £44 per cabin; reserved seats start from around £10. Daytime crossings have no such requirement. Full cabins guide →
How many sailings are there per week?
In peak summer (July–August) there are up to 8 sailings per week. Spring and autumn run approximately 4–5 sailings per week. From late October to November the schedule drops to around 2 sailings per week. The route does not operate from December through to late February — there are no Plymouth to Roscoff sailings in this period. 2026 timetable →
