Where is the Pont-Aven ferry now?

On the Plymouth to Roscoff route in 2027 she leaves Plymouth on Thursday evenings at 20:30 and Roscoff on Sunday mornings at 09:45. For much of the rest of the week she sails Brittany Ferries’ Plymouth to Santander route across the Bay of Biscay, so if the tracker shows her off northern Spain, that’s why.
Is there a Pont-Aven ferry deck plan?
Yes — the deck-by-deck table and deck plan images are near the top of this guide. In summary: deck 1 is engineering; decks 2–4 are the vehicle decks; deck 5 is cabins only; deck 6 has the cinemas, Information Desk, ATM, baggage room, cabins, and the pet-friendly cabins with their dog exercise area (added in 2022, so not on older plans); deck 7 has Le Flora, La Belle Angèle, Le Café du Festival and Le Fastnet; deck 8 has Le Grand Pavois, La Boutique, the Commodore Lounge and cabins; deck 9 has the pool, Games Planet, reserved seats and the dog exercise area for the kennels; and deck 10 has the dog kennels. The first digit of your cabin number is your deck.
What is the Pont-Aven?
The Pont-Aven is Brittany Ferries’ flagship cruise ferry and the largest ship in its fleet. Built by Meyer Werft in Germany and launched in 2004, she carries up to 2,400 passengers and 650 vehicles, with 650 en-suite cabins, three restaurants, a piano bar, a two-level show bar, two cinemas, a seasonal swimming pool and onboard dog kennels.
When does the Pont-Aven sail from Plymouth to Roscoff in 2027?
In 2027 the Pont-Aven makes one Plymouth to Roscoff round trip a week: Thursday 20:30 from Plymouth, arriving Roscoff at 08:00 French time, and Sunday 09:45 from Roscoff, arriving Plymouth at 14:00. Her first 2027 sailing on the route is Sunday 21 March from Roscoff, and her last from Plymouth is Thursday 4 November. Does the Pont-Aven have a swimming pool?
Yes — the Pont-Aven has a swimming pool on deck 9, with the Les Finistères pool bar alongside. It is open from May to September on daytime sailings only, weather permitting, so on the Plymouth to Roscoff route in 2027 that means the Sunday 09:45 sailing from Roscoff. There is no lifeguard and children must be supervised. The Armorique does not have a pool.
Can I take my dog on the Pont-Aven?
Yes. On the Plymouth to Roscoff route your dog can travel in a pet-friendly cabin on deck 6, in the onboard kennels on deck 10, or in your vehicle. There are dog exercise areas on deck 6 (by the pet-friendly cabins) and deck 9 (just below the kennels). Dogs must be muzzled and on a lead whenever they are outside the cabin, kennel or vehicle. How much is a cabin on the Pont-Aven?
Overnight Pont-Aven cabins on the Plymouth to Roscoff route start from £57+ for a 2-berth inside cabin, rising to £127+ for a De Luxe and £177+ for a Commodore cabin with private balcony. Which deck is best on the Pont-Aven?
Deck 5 is the lowest passenger deck and the most stable if you’re prone to seasickness. Deck 7 puts you closest to all the restaurants and Le Fastnet piano bar, and deck 8 is next to Le Grand Pavois, La Boutique and — for Commodore and De Luxe guests — the Commodore Lounge. You can’t choose a cabin number online, but you can call Brittany Ferries on 0330 159 7000 after booking to request a deck.
Can you see whales and dolphins from the Pont-Aven?
ORCA wildlife officers only sail on the Pont-Aven’s Spanish crossings across the Bay of Biscay, where they run deck watches and talks in Le Grand Pavois. They are not on board for Plymouth to Roscoff sailings, which cross the English Channel rather than the Bay of Biscay — though it’s always worth keeping an eye out from the outside decks.
Is the spa open on the Pont-Aven between Plymouth and Roscoff?
No. The Pont-Aven’s spa treatment rooms on deck 8 are only open on Plymouth to Santander sailings. Spa treatments are not available on cross-Channel sailings to France, including Plymouth to Roscoff.
What is the difference between the Pont-Aven and the Armorique?
The Armorique operates most Plymouth to Roscoff sailings and offers a self-service restaurant, bar, café, two cinemas and pet-friendly cabins, but no kennels.
